Pella Encompass Window Prices
The Encompass is the company's entry level vinyl window series. The Encompass is an upgrade from the Thermastar, which is often the lowest rated Consumer Reports window on the market. Honestly, the Encompass is a poor excuse for a vinyl window in terms of build quality and component strength. While probably fine for rentals and house flips, this is not the vinyl window you want if you're on the hunt for long-term value.

Pella 250 Series Cost
The 250 series is the company's most popular and best vinyl window option (they used to make the upgraded 350 series, but discontinued it some years back). The workmanship and build on the 250 series are quite good, although it lacks the true slope sill that many of the best vinyl windows incorporate into their own designs. The 250 double hung with low-e glass delivers a .30 U-value and .09 air infiltration rating. Both good performance metrics. Overall, a good mid range vinyl window that is often sold at a slightly too-high price point due to the Pella brand name.

Pella Impervia Series Cost
The Impervia series is the company's fiberglass window series that tends to be quite popular. However, many industry insiders consider the build unit, particularly the mainframe, to be weak when compared with like-priced fiberglass windows. The Pella Impervia is the weakest link in the Pella product lineup. A hard pass for me.

Pella Reserve Series Cost
The Reserve Series is the company's top-of-the-line wood window and one of the prettiest windows on the market. However, this is neither the most energy-efficient window, nor is it for the feint of wallet. Consumers can expect this window to run upwards of $2,600 per window installed, making it a tough buy for most American consumers.

Editor's Advice:
Joan, if you truly need impact windows, then I would stick with a dedicated impact window option such as the Pella Hurricane Shield or the PGT Sparta.
The Simonton 5500 really is not a true impact window, so I would probably eliminate that bid unless your timeline in the home is relatively short.
Personally, I think the PGT Sparta at roughly $38K is the better overall value compared to the Pella Hurricane Shield.
In my opinion, the Sparta offers the stronger combination of price and long-term value. That would probably be the direction I would go here.

Pella Impervia vs Pella 250
| Window Series | Total Quote Installed | Average Installed Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Pella Impervia | $40,000 | Fiberglass Quote Option |
| Pella 250 | $29,000 | Vinyl Quote Option |
"We own a home in eastern Michigan and have started planning a large window replacement project. We've received quotes from Renewal by Andersen and Pella. Renewal's proposal came in at roughly $75,000 for just the first phase, which was far more than we expected. Pella was more reasonable, with the Impervia fiberglass option around $40,000 and the Pella 250 vinyl series around $29,000, but both still feel fairly expensive."
"After reading through many of the reviews on your site, I've become interested in exploring some of the sturdier vinyl window options you often recommend. Unfortunately, I'm having trouble finding dealers in Michigan. HiMark confirmed that they currently don't have a dealer network in the state, and I've had no luck getting a response from Sunrise through either their online contact form or phone messages."
