Double-Hung Window Costs (Without Installation)
Entry Level Double Hungs
Entry level windows are often purchased at big box stores like Lowes or Home Depot. They are almost always a composite or vinyl frame with a low end glass package like a clear glass. They will usually be very limited in options and colors and use plastic for their hardware and latches. Low end double hungs usually go hand in hand with a lower end installation, although nowhere is installation more important than on an entry level product.

Mid Range Double Hungs
Mid range windows are typically sold through distributors or through window companies that carry multiple brands and products. They will often be a composite, premium vinyl or fiberglass frame with some nice upgrades from the entry level. Expect a decent glass package with a mid range low-e glass and fills. There may be more options such as frame colors, finishes and hardware material.

High End Double Hungs
High end windows will be sold through dealers and window companies and should be a well known (and well regarded) manufacturer or brand. They will be a wood clad or premium fiberglass or aluminum frame with a high end glass package of premimum low-e options and fills. Expect lots of color, finish and hardware options an upgrades.

Installation Prices
Installation prices range from $50 for inserts (also called pocket replacement) to $150 for stardard installs to $250 for full frame replacement - these are per window prices. New construction installation is more involved than even the full frame and can range from $250 to $550 per opening
