Sunroom Cost Calculator

Our sunroom cost calculator provides ballpark price quotes for most sunroom window projects. However, it is important to note that there are massive price ranges when it comes to sunroom window replacement cost. Therefore, we strongly advice you to collect at least 3 price quotes (5 is probably ideal) in order to find the fair and equitable price for your project.

For instance, projects might be as simple as replacing four of the existing sunroom windows. Price estimates in this case might be $800 per window, bringing the project total to $3200. On the other hand, another sunroom project might require a brand new build, which means lots of construction work, along with 15 brand new Okna 800 series windows. This estimate might be $40K plus.

How Our Calculator Works

We'll go through each question to show you how our sunroom cost calculator works the numbers to provide you with the most accurate pricing available on the internet.

Question 1: Number Of Windows

Obviously, all sunrooms require windows. Therefore, we gotta have the total number of replacement (or new construction) windows to begin our calculation. Of course, there is a pretty big gamut here. The number of windows you’ll need will depend on the size of the sunroom, the configuration, the number of doors, and how much light you want to enter the space.

Question 2 : Frame Material

Sunrooms are comprised of walls and windows. So you have to select the frame material for your windows. There are five basic options: vinyl, aluminum windows, fiberglass, composite, and wood-clad. The cheapest option is vinyl, although there are huge price differences even here. A cheap vinyl window might be $300 (just the window), while an expensive vinyl window might run $800.

Up from this, you have fiberglass and aluminum, which will run roughly 35% to 40% more than vinyl windows. Then, we have composite frames, which might be 20% more than fiberglass. Finally, we have wood-clad windows, which are the priciest windows on the market. These can be an additional 25% over the composite windows.

Sunroom Cost Calculator : Type Of Window

For this question, we have simply broken it down to two distinct options. First is impact windows. These are high quality aluminum or vinyl windows that are built to withstand extreme weather. Generally, you can expect impact windows to add $1000 per window over a non impact window. Second is non impact windows. These are normal windows that have a double pane glass and can be made out of whatever frame material you selected in the question above.

Question 4 : Window Quality

On to question four, which centers on the overall quality of the window manufacturer. Here, there are three options to choose from - Entry Level, Mid Range, and High End Premium. So, entry level fiberglass windows from Milgard might be $1000 (window only), while a mid range might run $1400, and an expensive premium fiberglass window from Marvin Windows could run $1800 (window only).

Question 5 : Installation Method

Question 5 deals with the installation method for the windows themselves. There are three basic options to choose from and they are as follows: retrofit (the least expensive method), retrofit with additional work (the second least expensive method), and full frame installation (the most expensive method).

Sunroom Cost Calculator : Size Of Sunroom

There is lots of variability to this question, but we are keeping it nice and simple. Here are the five most common choices for sunrooms in the United States: 10 x 12, 10 x 14, 12 x 12, 12 x 20, and 16 x 20. Incidentally, the most common size of sunroom in the U.S. is 12 foot by 12 foot.

Question 7 : Construction Requirements

Final question - we’re almost there! Your answer to this question will change the pricing projection quite significantly. Your options are as follows: no repairs, minor repairs, major repairs, and new construction. In particular, if you answer that you are looking for new construction, this will increase the cost per square foot significantly for several reasons. New construction sunrooms typically requires plans (that must get approval from the city), structural posts, walls, and the full build (along with the windows of course). The bottom line is this is a pricey selection.

Andersen Sunroom vs MI

My insurance will pay for different sizes as tree very huge fell in a storm over top and no repair of aluminum large windows different sizes possible, 48 by 84. All replacement windows called streak or maybe nothing white I have now to be replaced. These replacement windows were storms only back in the day, but the replacement could be whatever the companies offer in terms of price wise and what I prefer.

So far, the contractors have not been showing the windows in photos to compare. I saw some windows that looked nice briefly on the web but no prices on the web and I hear double hung used as the replacement term and the house was built in 1954. He said he can either put in Andersen windows or MI.

I am not sure it was first a porch the neighbor just said. It was probably when the load bearing beam was built in the sunroom and these
aluminum windows are said to be all storm windows that is all the windows had just storm windows but nice. I think Mi might have what insurance might want exact materials. Actually I like the plain metal look. But the house was ever sold would those new aluminum mi windows if that is the case look good?

[Site Editor's Answer]

Nancie, in terms of what MI Windows makes, I would only go with their high end vinyl windows - so the MI 4000 series (or higher) and their EnergyCore series. The rest of their lineup is subpar in my opinion. On the Andersen front, I would probably stay away from their wood clad windows, which leaves their 100 fibrex composite window. A decent option, but the MI 4500 series (originally a Sunrise window) would be much more energy efficient.

The bottom line is to collect as many bids as possible in order to maximize your chances to find a great price from a quality company. Send me the summations of the bids, including the price point and company doing the work, and I'm more than happy to give you my two cents on the best option for your project.

Sunroom Cost Calculator Question

Bill, I’m a bit confused and was hoping you might clear something up for me. When I put into the estimator that I needed impact windows (which the county claims we do), there was no price change. Does that make sense? I was under the impression that hurricane impact windows costs are significantly more expensive???

Deenie - Homeowner - from 2025

[Site Editor's Answer]

Deenie, I went through and found that I had made an error with the calculator. Thank you so much for picking up my error. So now this shows a significant price increase when you select impact. On average they will run $600 to $700 more per window over normal replacement windows. Check out our hurricane impact windows cost calculator more additional pricing estimates. Also, remember that collecting 4 to 5 bids is the only real way to be sure that you are getting accurate project quotes!
